The Macroplant Name (formerly we were myPod Apps)

On March 17th, myPod Apps LLC was officially renamed to Macroplant LLC. We decided to rename the company for the purposes of clarity (with regards to spelling) and not be limited to iPod development

Our Story

Macroplant was started in Arlington, Virginia USA. While the company was started as a part-time hobby in 2008, it has grown into a multi-person organization with several highly talented full-time software developers and a few freelance workers around the world.

Our Business

The developers at Macroplant are huge proponents of freeware and recognize its significant contribution to a large population throughout the world. With this mentality, the company is unique in offering significant amounts of freeware to the public in combination with charging for its more high-maintenance software products. In this high-risk niche market with continually changing market conditions and development requirements we are unable to provide a truly accurate forecast for our software changing from freeware to shareware or vice versa. However, we put forth great efforts to ensure that almost every product we do release is available to the public as freeware for at a minimum of 9 months (and some of them we plan to keep as freeware forever).

In the event that one of our pieces of software is upgrade from freeware to shareware, don't fret, we will look out for you. We will do our best to make sure of the following points to be fair to our freeware users:
1. We will leave both the new shareware version and the older freeware version publicly available for at least four months after making this kind of switch.
2. We will ensure that there is a significant amount of development that goes into the upgrade of the product such that we are not just changing the price of the product.
3. During the first few weeks our new shareware products will sell at a greatly reduced price so as to extend a significant benefit for those who found the program early on.
