The program won't find my iPod.
- (Non-iPhone/iTouch iPods) If you are using a Mac formatted iPod, Pod to PC won't find it. Macs use HFS+ file structure. This is different than the FAT systems that Windows computers can read.
- Interestingly, Macs can read both HFS+ and FAT, so if you use Pod to Mac, you should be able to get music back from either a Mac or PC formatted iPod.
- Try reconnecting your iPod to the computer. Do not connect through a USB hub.

I have a Mac formatted iPod that Pod to PC won't recognize. Is there anything I can do to get my music?
iPhone and iPod Touch users will not encounter this issue as it applies only to the non-touch-screen type of iPods. Essentially what happens is if you have a non-iPhone-type iPod and it is synced to a Mac, it becomes HFS formatted, which is a format that windows computers cannot generally read. The easiest option may be recovering your music to a Mac using Pod to Mac, but for additional questions please feel free to contact us by e-mail.

Pod to PC won't detect my iPod. What should I do?
- If you are using an iPhone or iTouch, try reconnecting the device with your USB cord.
- For all non-iPhone/iTouch type iPods, enable "disk mode hijacking" in the Pod to PC options menu, then click "okay" and reconnect your iPod.
- Note: make sure you close any pop-ups in iTunes before retrying the transfer.
Pod to PC is not transferring files or crashing when I try to have it transfer. How do I fix this?
- If you are running Vista or Windows 7, try running Pod to PC as an administrator. Simple hold down Ctrl+Shft and right mouse click on Pod to PC. From the context menu, select "Run as administrator". Then retry your import.
- Most issues with Pod to PC are because iTunes blocks the transfer. This is typically because iTunes is displaying a pop-up (such as "Do you want to upgrade to the latest iTunes?" or "You connected an iPod...") or iTunes is closed.
- Most of the time this issue is easily resolved simply by closing the pop-up in iTunes. If that does not fix the issue, try the following:
- Start iTunes first, connect your iPod and then close any pop-ups in iTunes. Next start Pod to PC and try the transfer.
- If Pod to PC is having trouble detecting your iPod, you should enable "disk mode hijacking" from Pod to PC -> Edit -> Options and reconnect your ipod, then close any pop-ups in iTunes.
iTunes opens when Pod to PC starts. Why is this?
- Pod to PC needs to communicate with iTunes via the COM interface in order to import your music.
